We worked on a new metal roof installation located in the city of Newport Beach. The two-story home was built in the 1950s; it was recently purchased by a family from England to be used as their vacation home. The home is undergoing a full and complete renovation, inside and out. Western Roofing Systems was referred to them as the go-to roofing company for the new metal roof installation and repairs.
The home’s exterior showcases a dramatic bi-level roof line that gently slopes toward the ocean. The design of the roof helped define the lead architect’s decision on which style of roof to choose for his client’s remodel; a newstanding seam metal roof.
Standing Seam metal roofs’ are renowned for their architecturally sweeping roofing lines and wildly impressive colors; it can be seen on commercial buildings as well as many homes.
These types of metal roofs typically feature panels that run vertically up the roof. Referred to as “Standing Seam” because their prominent visual feature is the raised interlocking seam which joins one panel to the next.
Advantages of a new metal roof installation
- High Seams: the weak point in any roof and a potential for moisture are raised above the level of the roofing panel. You cannot say this for composition shingle.
- Fewer Seams: the panels run unhindered from top to bottom; so not only are there no horizontal seams, but in total the roof has far less number of seams.
- Cool Roof: in general, all metal roofing is considered a “cool roof” by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This is because metal roofing can be painted any color, including lighter colors with higher reflectivity properties, thus preventing solar heat gain.
- Sleek Locks: Standing Seam roofs are the perfect choice for certain types of contemporary or country-style homes. Due to the smooth, straight lines, Standing Seam roofs give your house an “industrial” feeling, yet with a modern flair.
In order to comply with the Newport Beach Building Code, we specified all-aluminum Standing Seam products from a company called “Custom-Built” located in the state of Texas. You may get a nice view of this new metal roof installation from a boat off the coastline. Another successful metal roof installation located in Newport Beach.
